We believe in a sustainable future for everyone, and we’re proactively working to reduce our carbon footprint

It’s why we’re the cleanest rescue recovery fleet in the UK.

A Commitment to Sustainability

We recognise that road traffic is a significant contributor to climate change – it’s something that nobody can choose to ignore. We are actively taking the initiative to improve the sustainability of our recovery services.

All of our vehicles are Euro 6 compliant, and our facilities in London are powered by renewable energy; and in addition, we will be bringing dedicated solar arrays online in 2021.

But we know that more needs to be done. Despite these initiatives, we still contribute 1,500 tonnes of CO2 every year, 95% of which comes from vehicle emissions.

+

In order to combat this, we are embracing sustainable solutions, including:

  • Replacing recovery vehicles with electric variants from 2025 onwards. This is when EV truck technology is projected to become viable.
  • Continuing our drive of electrification of vehicles. We’re already ahead of the market, and many of our light vehicles will be replaced by electric versions in 2022.
  • Planting at least 1,500 trees a year in support of the Committee on Climate Change recommendations for 1.5bn new trees in the UK in 2050.
  • Our partners Trees for life are helping us with our tree planting programme in the Scottish Highlands, and we’re also ready to bring forward our EV truck schedule if the pace of technology quickens.

+

Through Trees for Life we support Scotland’s wild and ancient Caledonian forest. Trees for Life is a multi-award winning conservation charity that has planted nearly two million trees, nurturing seedlings, helping propogation and encouraging forest regeneration.

At C&S, we’re committed to planting 1 tree for every ton of Co2 our vehicles emit, until such time as the electrification of commercial vehicles becomes a viable alternative to ICE
